Key points
- The standard e visa is issued within 3 working days, so weekends and public holidays do not count.
- If the email has not come, check the result yourself on the official status page; the visa may already be there.
- Urgent processing gives a decision within 3 hours, also on holidays, and must be requested at least 3 hours before arrival.
- E visa questions go to the portal's contact page or info@evisa.gov.az, not to embassies.
- Official fees are never refunded, so think before you pay twice.

How long does the Azerbaijan e visa take?
The official portal says the standard e visa is issued within 3 working days and the urgent e visa within 3 hours, regardless of holidays and non working days. The conditions ask you to apply at least 3 working days before arrival for standard and at least 3 hours before arrival for urgent.
Working days are the key. An application sent on Friday evening is counted from Monday. If Azerbaijan has a public holiday that week, the count moves again. Many "delays" are simply the weekend.
| Option | Decision within | Apply at least | Official fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard e visa | 3 working days | 3 working days before arrival | USD 29 (USD 20 state fee + USD 9 service fee) |
| Urgent e visa | 3 hours, also on holidays | 3 hours before arrival | About USD 59; the form shows the exact amount |
First, check the status yourself
The result is sent by email, but emails get lost. The portal says that if you cannot receive the email, you can check the outcome on the official status page. Use the same details you applied with.
Also check your spam and promotions folders, and the email address you typed. A typing mistake in the email is common, and it means the visa is ready but nobody told you.
- Issued: download and print the e visa from the portal.
- Still in process: you are probably inside the 3 working days. See the steps below.
- Refused: the reason is sent to you. Read why e visas get refused before you apply again.
- Not found: you may have paid a lookalike site, not the government. See fake e visa websites.
My flight is in a day or two. What can I do?
- 1
Count the working days
If you applied less than 3 working days ago, the portal is still inside its own time limit. Waiting is often the answer.
- 2
Contact the portal
Write through the contact page on evisa.gov.az or to info@evisa.gov.az. Give your application number, full name and passport number, and say when you fly.
- 3
Think about urgent processing
If there is no answer and your flight is very close, an urgent application gives a decision within 3 hours. The portal does not say what happens to the first application, and the first fee is not refunded, so ask on the contact page first if you can.

Talk to your airline
Most airlines will not let you board for Baku without the right entry. Ask about changing the date before the departure, which is often cheaper than a missed flight.
Do not fly hoping to sort the visa out at the airport. A visa at the airport is only for the nationalities on the official airport list, such as Oman, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Indonesia, China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Israel.
Why an e visa can take longer
Public holidays in Azerbaijan are the most common hidden cause. Novruz in March, the Ramadan and Gurban holidays and the national days in May, June and November can close several working days in a row. If your trip falls near one of them, apply a week or more ahead, or plan from the start on urgent processing.
If your application is refused, the official fee is not returned and you cannot fix the old application. You apply again with the corrected details, or at an embassy if the e visa is not possible for you.
- You applied on a weekend or before a public holiday.
- The passport scan was blurry, cropped or had glare, and the application needs another look.
- Your details do not match the passport exactly, for example a name order or a date.
- The payment failed or is still pending at your bank.
- You applied with one passport and now plan to travel with another. The e visa is tied to the passport number.
How to avoid a late e visa next time
Apply as soon as your dates are clear. The e visa is valid for 90 days, so there is no reason to wait until the last week. Check every field against your passport before paying; our step by step guide lists the checks.
If you prefer help, the Sroky app can check your details and file the e visa for you. Sroky is private, not the government, and its fee is separate from the official fee. If a Sroky urgent visa misses its window, Sroky refunds its own fee; the official fee is never refunded by the government.
Let Sroky file your e visa
Check your passport for free, fill in the application in the app and we file it on the official portal. You pay our fee and the official fee as separate lines.
