Where can you travel with an Azerbaijani passport?

Good to know: Azerbaijan's land borders stay closed to passengers until 2 January 2027 (Cabinet decision of 17 September 2026), so most trips start by air. Exceptions: the passenger train to Georgia, running since May 2026, and the Iran crossing for citizens.

• Türkiye: On direct flights you can also use the new generation national ID card.
• Georgia: Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry list says 90 days, while Georgia's own rules allow up to 1 year: check Georgia's consular site before a long stay. Land crossings are closed to passengers, so most travellers fly.
• Russia: An international passport is required and you must register your stay. Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry and Migration Service give 90 days per calendar year.
• United Arab Emirates: Mutual tourist visa waiver in force since 8 July 2023.
• Iran: Azerbaijani government lists give 15 days; check travel advisories before you go.
• Kazakhstan: Register with the authorities if you stay longer than 30 days.
• Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan lists Azerbaijan under its visa free regime of unlimited duration; register your stay on arrival.
• Ukraine: Ukrainian airspace is closed, so entry is overland, usually via Moldova.
• Schengen: One Schengen visa covers all 29 member states, and EES biometric registration applies at the border.
• Thailand: Since 15 September 2026 Azerbaijan is one of three VOA countries (fee about THB 2,000); a Thai eVisa allows longer stays and the TDAC arrival card is mandatory.
