Foreign embassies and consulates in Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a Diplomatic List with the address, phone and email of every foreign mission. The July 2026 edition shows 73 missions with offices in Azerbaijan: 68 embassies, the EU Delegation and 4 consulates general (Georgia in Ganja, Iran in Nakhchivan, and Türkiye in Ganja and in Nakhchivan). Some countries cover Azerbaijan from an embassy in another country, such as Ankara, Moscow or Tehran.

Your embassy is the place for a new passport, a lost passport or papers for your own government. Keep its number in your phone. If your passport is close to expiry, read our passport validity rules first, because a residence permit needs a passport that lasts longer than the card.

Consular hours are not in the Diplomatic List. Check them on the embassy's own website or call before you go.

Several countries also have honorary consuls in Azerbaijan. They are not counted in the 73 missions and usually offer only limited help, so for a passport go to the embassy or consulate general.

Can I do it online instead of going to an office?

Often, yes. Many steps that used to need a visit now have an official online route. You still need originals for some services, so keep them ready.

  • Residence permit applications and extensions: eservice.migration.gov.az. Universities file for their own students.
  • Place of stay registration: online, or by email to qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az. It is free and confirmed within 1 working day.
  • E visa: only on the official portal evisa.gov.az.
  • Phone IMEI registration: my.gov.az, if the phone was declared at customs. See IMEI phone registration.
  • Questions: 919 for the Migration Service and 108 for ASAN.

Azerbaijan's embassies abroad: when you need one

Most visitors use the ASAN e visa on evisa.gov.az and never visit an embassy. You need an Azerbaijani embassy or consulate only when the e visa does not fit your purpose, for example a work visa, an education visa without the e visa route, or a private visit visa for family. The consular fee is USD 20 for a single entry visa and the decision comes within 15 days. Read who needs an embassy visa for the full steps, or use the free visa checker.

How to prepare for an office visit

  1. 1

    Check the right office

TRC and registration: ASAN or the Migration Service. Passport: your embassy.

  2. 2

    Book a queue

For ASAN, book on enovbe.asan.gov.az or call 108.

  3. 3

    Bring originals and copies

Passport, current visa or permit, housing document and photos as the service asks. See the TRC documents checklist.

  4. 4

    Go early in your window

A TRC extension must be filed at least 30 days before the card expires. Sroky reminds you before that date so the visit is not a rush.

All of this in your pocket

The Sroky guide covers visas, permits, offices, phones and schools, with reminders for your own documents. Free, private, on your phone.
