Does Azerbaijan have a digital nomad visa?

Not yet. On 1 November 2026 there is no form, portal or fee for a digital nomad visa in Azerbaijan. The ASAN Visa portal still offers only the normal e visa, which allows a stay of up to 30 days and does not allow paid work in Azerbaijan.

What changed in 2026 is the law. Parliament passed amendments to the Migration Code and to tax and technology park rules, and the President approved them by decrees of 22 October 2026. These changes create a legal category for digital nomads and plan a route for them from 2027.

Many websites already write about a "nomad visa" with an exact income figure. We could not find that figure in any official text, so we do not repeat it here.

Who will count as a digital nomad?

The State Agency for Innovation and Digital Development (IDDA) describes digital nomads as foreigners and stateless persons who work remotely in fields such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and innovation, and whose income comes from sources outside Azerbaijan.

This is narrower than many other countries' nomad visas. A remote designer or developer fits the description well. Whether, for example, a remote sales manager or a language teacher will qualify depends on rules that are not published yet.

IDDA also says applicants will need stable income from foreign sources. The amount and how you prove it are not stated on the official page.

How the route is expected to work

Based on the official description, the route has three parts. Treat this as an outline, not a checklist, until the procedures are published.

  1. 1

    Business visa to enter

Digital nomads are to be given a business visa. The type of visa and how to apply for it are not on the ASAN Visa or Foreign Ministry pages yet.

  2. 2

Tax registration and technology park residency

To get residence, a nomad must be registered with the tax authority and be a resident of a technology park. From 1 January 2027 the model rules for technology parks allow freelancers and digital nomads to join.

  3. 3

    Temporary, then permanent residence

Temporary and later permanent residence permits are possible under conditions. Read how a temporary residence permit works today to see what papers and fees are usual.

Social insurance rules for digital nomads were also changed, but the official summary gives no details. Do not plan your budget on tax breaks until the final texts are out.

What can remote workers do before 2027?

  • Come on the normal rules for your passport: the 30 day e visa or a visa free stay. Check yours with the free checker on Sroky.
  • Register your address if you stay more than 15 days.
  • Do not take paid work from Azerbaijani clients on a tourist stay. Read remote work on a tourist visa.
  • If you need to stay longer now, look at the existing routes: a work permit through an employer, your own company, study or family.
  • Compare other options in digital nomad visas in 2026.

Where to check for the final rules

Official news will appear on idda.az, the State Migration Service and the law database e-qanun.az. Be careful with sites that already sell a "digital nomad visa for Azerbaijan": as of 1 November 2026 no such application exists.

We will update this page when the procedure is published. Sroky is a private app, not a government site, and the government decides every visa and permit.
