What is the Egypt e visa?
The Egypt e visa is a tourist visa you apply for on the official portal visa2egypt.gov.eg, run by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior. You fill in the form, pay online and receive a link to download the visa. Border officers check it electronically, but bring a printout too.
The e visa portal gives tourist visas only. Business trips, study and work need a visa from an Egyptian embassy or consulate. If you are not sure which kind of visa you need, read e visa vs visa on arrival vs embassy visa.
Who can apply for the Egypt e visa?
On 4 November 2026 the official FAQ listed 78 nationalities. The list follows your passport, not where you live, so an Indian citizen living in Baku applies as an Indian citizen.
| Region | Examples on the official list |
|---|---|
| Caucasus and Central Asia | Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia |
| Europe | EU states, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo |
| Asia | India, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam |
| Middle East | Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain |

Not on the e visa list: Pakistan, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iran, the Philippines and Indonesia, among others. Diplomatic, service, refugee and other special passports cannot use the e visa either.
Egypt e visa fees and rules
The portal does not state the length of stay on its FAQ page. A stay of up to 30 days is the usual rule for a tourist visa; check the dates printed on your e visa and do not stay past them.
| Item | Official rule |
|---|---|
| Single entry tourist e visa | USD 30 |
| Multiple entry tourist e visa | USD 65 |
| Payment | Visa, Mastercard or other debit cards, online |
| Refund | Not refundable |
| When to apply | At least 7 days before departure |
| Passport | Valid at least 6 months from arrival |
| At arrival | Travel plan and hotel booking; for family or business visits, an invitation or company letter |
Each traveller applies in their own account. Parents can apply for their children from the parent's account.
Visa on arrival in Egypt
Egypt also sells a visa on arrival at its airports to many nationalities. Since 1 September 2026, airports issue it as an electronic QR code instead of a sticker. The Embassy of Egypt in Washington says nationals who need pre approval cannot get a visa on arrival.
- Pre approval needed (no visa on arrival): Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Iran, Israel, Mali, Niger, Palestine, Sudan and Syria, and anyone travelling on a travel document instead of a passport.
- From 1 March 2027 citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan also need pre approval.
- Bangladeshi citizens need a visa before they travel.
- Airlines can refuse boarding if they are not sure you qualify on arrival. The e visa removes that doubt, so apply online when your passport is on the list.
The visa on arrival fee and which other nationalities qualify are not published on the e visa portal. Ask your airline or the Egyptian embassy before you rely on it.
